Another major use of hydrochloric acid is to produce organic compounds, such as vinyl chloride and dichloroethane, which are precursors for preparing PVC, and to produce organic compounds, such as bisphenol A (bisphenol A), activated carbon, and ascorbic acid, which are precursors to polycarbonate, as well as numerous pharmaceuticals.
