mmonia water is called ammonium hydroxide because ammonia (NH3) is dissolved in water and chemically changes to ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) as ammonia (NH3) dissolves in water. Ammonia water has a distinctive ammonia odor and has a yellow color. It turns white when exposed to air. Ammonia water is in a liquid state at room temperature, and its estimated solubility is 1 g/ml at about 25 ¡ÆC. It is used in reagents such as precipitators and buffer solutions, stain removal of clothing, wool washing, local stimulants, antacids, and neutralizers. |
